The main topic of thesis is a measurement realized on the fireplace-insert. Thesis is consists of three parts. First part is focused on wood combustion and overview of fireplace-inserts construction. Second part contains the description of fireplace-insert Bety and accomplished construction changes. Third and main part is consists from measurements, calculations and finally assessments of measurement´s configurations.

In first part is situated a brief overview of heat exchangers and what types can be found at market. Second part deal with stechiometric calculation of flue gases origin and their physical properties. Last part is about designing two exchangers, flue gases–air and flue gases–water.

The second part is about calculations and engineering desing of the prototype hot-water fireplace „Kárlovka“. The last part of diploma thesis verifies the parameters of the desingned fireplace insert by experimental test in two different measurement setup, where there are compared to results obtained with the results of calculation.
